About Twins Gathering

Every year, San Martino Alfieri, a small town in the province of Asti, turns into Italy's capital for twins. The Twins Gathering attracts pairs of brothers and sisters from all over Italy for a day of celebration featuring parades, shows, a communal lunch, and plenty of smiles. Born in 2015 from an idea by sisters Mariuccia and Elda Saracco, the event is now a highly anticipated occasion that celebrates the special bond between twins and the hospitality of a Monferrato village known for its extraordinary number of twin births.

A one-of-a-kind celebration

The Twins Gathering in San Martino Alfieri is one of the most curious and heartwarming events on the Asti Monferrato calendar. Each year, this small town in the province of Asti, Piedmont, welcomes dozens of twin pairs arriving from all over Italy to reconnect, share their stories, and celebrate the magic of an extraordinary bond. The event takes place at the local sports field and involves the entire village in an atmosphere of joy and conviviality.

The history: from the Saracco sisters' vision

The initiative was born in 2015 from an intuition of Mariuccia and Elda Saracco, twin sisters born on October 30, 1939, who remained inseparable throughout their lives. From that first meeting, intended as a gathering for those who share this special gift, the event has grown year after year to become a well-attended festival known far beyond the borders of the Asti region. Today, the event is carried forward by the founders' grandchildren, united in the Associazione Gemelli si nasce, in a moving generational handover that preserves the memory and original spirit of the gathering.

The festival program

The highlight is Sunday, when the sports field comes alive from the morning:

  • Gathering of the twins and welcome for guests
  • Communal lunch featuring local specialties: raw beef (carne cruda), bruschetta, and traditional Monferrato dishes
  • Shows and entertainment for all ages, with acrobatic performances, soap bubbles, and activities for children
  • The highly anticipated twins' parade, the symbolic moment of the gathering, highlighting the resemblance and complicity between brothers and sisters

An event for the whole community

The Twins Gathering is not just a party for the protagonists: it is an occasion open to everyone—families, friends, and curious visitors—who flock to San Martino Alfieri every year, drawn by the charm of a truly unique event. Between photographs, smiles, and convivial moments, the gathering tells family stories and renews the sense of community in a small Monferrato village that has turned its unique characteristic into a source of pride and celebration.

Twins Gathering — edition 2026

The eighth edition of the Twins Gathering took place in San Martino Alfieri on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026, for the first time over two days. The novelty was the Saturday evening at the sports field, while Sunday featured the classic twins' gathering with a communal lunch, shows, and the inevitable parade. Among the announced guests, a surprise linked to Sanremo Giovani.

Eighth edition over two days

The eighth edition of the Twins Gathering brought a major novelty to San Martino Alfieri: for the first time, the festival extended to Saturday evening, with the Game Boys – 90s Party at the sports field, starting at 9:30 PM, accompanied by pizza, focaccia, hamburgers, beer, cocktails, and a surprise guest from Sanremo Giovani.

The main day, Sunday, June 7, followed the traditional script: gathering at 11:00 AM at the sports field, communal lunch at 12:30 PM with raw beef, bruschetta, and local specialties, performances, and entertainment, leading up to the twins' parade in the afternoon.
