Tuscan PDO bread, grilled meats, and Bavarian beer at Parco Colombai in Borgo a Buggiano
When summer arrives in Borgo a Buggiano, a hamlet in the municipality of Buggiano in the province of Pistoia, the Parco Colombai of Villa Ankuri comes to life every evening for nearly a month. The Tuscan PDO Bread Festival… with a side of Beer is now a permanent fixture on the Valdinievole summer calendar, drawing families, groups of friends, and curious visitors from all over Tuscany.
The event began as the Bavarian Beer Festival and was later renamed to highlight a local excellence: Tuscan PDO Bread, a symbolic product of regional tradition that now gives the event its name. However, Bavarian beer remains a star, as the core idea remains unchanged: bringing people together around a table for good food, toasts, and music.
Every evening, the food stalls offer traditional Tuscan dishes featuring Tuscan PDO Bread, accompanied by delicious platters of cold cuts and cheeses. For grill enthusiasts, there is a dedicated stand for mixed grills and steaks, while wine and Bavarian beer flow to accompany every course. It is a simple, authentic menu that pleases everyone.
In addition to great food, the festival offers musical entertainment every night: live shows, ballroom dancing, and dance music liven up the park until late. There is also entertainment for children, ensuring the event remains a celebration for the whole family, in the best tradition of Tuscan village festivals.
The event is organized by the Associazione Parco Colombai APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Buggiano. Admission and parking are free, reflecting the welcoming, grassroots spirit of this Tuscan festival.
