Opera and chamber music in the Italian-style theatre of Panicale
The Pan Opera Festival is the opera and chamber music event that animates the Teatro Cesare Caporali in Panicale every year. This medieval village in the province of Perugia is listed among Italy's Most Beautiful Villages and overlooks Lake Trasimeno. The intimate and charming Italian-style theatre provides a perfect setting for enjoying opera.
The festival's programme alternates between concerts, opera galas, and full staged operas, featuring international-level singers, instrumentalists, and conductors. Venues include the Teatro Caporali and the Church of Sant'Agostino, home to the Lace Museum. Each edition follows a theme; recently, for example, it was dedicated to the female figure in music and the arts.
The event is promoted and organised by the cultural association TéathronMusikè, presided over by Virgilio Bianconi, with the aim of enhancing the cultural, musical, and landscape heritage of the Trasimeno area. In just over a decade, the festival has brought dozens of artistic productions to Panicale, becoming a benchmark for classical music enthusiasts in Umbria and contributing to the village's inclusion in the circuit of quality opera festivals.
The 2026 edition of the Pan Opera Festival is anticipated at the Teatro Cesare Caporali in Panicale (PG), following the tradition of the event taking place between late summer and autumn. After the eleventh edition in 2025 (held from September 5th to 20th with six events dedicated to the female figure in music and the arts), the TéathronMusikè association, presided over by Virgilio Bianconi, is preparing a new programme of opera and chamber music.
The usual programme includes concerts, opera galas, and staged operas with international artists, held between the Teatro Caporali and the Church of Sant'Agostino (Lace Museum). Precise dates and detailed programme will be announced by the organising association closer to the event.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be published by TéathronMusikè in the weeks preceding the event. The festival typically features:
