Great chamber music in the 14th-century village of Valdichiana
The Lucignano Music Festival is one of the most refined events on the Tuscan musical scene. Every year, at the end of September, the 14th-century village of Lucignano, a medieval jewel of the Valdichiana in the province of Arezzo, transforms into a widespread stage dedicated to great chamber music. Concerts are held in venues of extraordinary charm, such as the Church of San Francesco, a 14th-century building, and the 18th-century Teatro Rosini, offering the audience intimate acoustics and a unique atmosphere.
The festival was born from the idea of violinist Irene Abrigo, a local native who serves as artistic director, developed in collaboration with Swiss violist Jürg Dähler. Their vision is to bring internationally renowned performers to a small village in the Tuscan countryside, building each edition around a theme that links music to cultural and human reflection. Over the years, the festival has hosted exceptional chamber ensembles with clarinetists, cellists, pianists, and conductors from the most important European concert stages.
The Lucignano Music Festival is more than just a concert series: it is a multisensory cultural experience that weaves music together with the discovery of the territory. Concerts are often accompanied by food and wine tastings, meetings with artists, and walks through the historic center, famous for its elliptical layout and the Golden Tree housed in the Municipal Museum. The event is organized by the Associazione Quinta Stagione APS under the patronage of the Municipality of Lucignano and the Tuscany Region.
For those who love classical music and are looking for an authentic experience away from the mainstream circuits, the Lucignano Music Festival is an unmissable appointment in the Tuscan autumn.
The Lucignano Music Festival returns in 2026 for its 6th edition, officially confirmed by the organizers of the Associazione Quinta Stagione APS for September 23-26, 2026.
