The half marathon of the Piedmontese capital, between the Po river and the city's historic squares
The Turin Half Marathon, known to everyone as La Mezza di Torino, is the running event that draws thousands of enthusiasts to the heart of Turin, Piedmont, every spring. Organized by Base Running, the event features a 21.097 km FIDAL-certified urban course, completely closed to traffic, which winds through some of the most scenic spots in the city beneath the Mole Antonelliana.
The start and finish lines are set in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, one of the largest and most striking squares in Europe, overlooking the Po river. The route consists of a circuit repeated twice for the half marathon (one lap for the 10 km): from the first kilometers along the Murazzi and Corso Cairoli, athletes reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Corso Massimo d'Azeglio, pass through the Dogliotti underpass, and skirt the Lingotto, the Palavela, and the Olympic footbridge, before heading back toward the center through the avenues of Parco del Valentino and along the river, with the final stretch through Via Principe Amedeo, Via Accademia Albertina, and Via Po.
The event combines two distances on the same day: the competitive half marathon and La Dieci di Torino, a 10 km race designed for amateurs and beginners. This format brings together experienced athletes, weekend runners, and curious participants in one big city festival, complete with a Race Village in Piazza Vittorio for picking up bibs and race packs.
Having become a staple of the Turin running calendar, La Mezza di Torino has reached impressive numbers, nearing 7,000 registrants across both distances. Every year, the race attracts national and international athletes along with a large crowd of spectators along the streets, making the province of Turin and the Piedmontese capital one of Italy's spring running capitals.
The 2026 edition of La Mezza di Torino took place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, confirming the event as one of the major running highlights of the Turin spring. With the start and finish in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and nearly 7,000 bibs assigned across the two distances, the race was held on a city circuit closed to traffic, repeated twice for the 21.097 km and once for the 10 km. The route, described as "not entirely flat" due to the double underpass, took athletes from the center to the Lingotto and Palavela, before returning through the Valentino park and Piazza Vittorio.
Both races shared the same start and finish in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, on a city circuit closed to traffic (two laps for the half, one lap for the 10 km).
In the men's half marathon, Simon Dudi Ekidor won in 1:03:36, ahead of Jakob Kosgei (1:05:51) and Patrick Francia (1:06:57). Among the women, Laura Restagno triumphed in 1:23:11, followed by Cristina Elena Masili (1:24:11) and Celeste Albertino (1:26:36). In the 10 km 'La Dieci di Torino', victories went to Giovanni Susca (30:20) and Silvia Zampaglione (35:36).
The start is in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the center of Turin, reachable on foot from the main train stations (Torino Porta Nuova and Torino Porta Susa) and well-served by GTT public transport. If arriving by car, be aware of numerous road closures: on race day, the entire route is closed to traffic, roughly from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, with closures starting early in the morning in Piazza Vittorio for setup.
Registration is done online via the official website and timing portals; fees are tiered and increase as the race date approaches. Recent editions have sold out well in advance. Bib pickup takes place at the Race Village in Piazza Vittorio in the days leading up to the race.
Single start at 8:30 AM on Sunday, with athletes gathering from 7:00 AM.
