The uphill race from Molveno to the Pradel Plateau, in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Trofeo Vertical Molveno is an uphill running race that brings summer evenings to life in the town of Molveno, a famous tourist destination overlooking the lake of the same name in Trentino-Alto Adige (Autonomous Province of Trento). The event attracts runners, trail enthusiasts, and spectators to one of the most picturesque settings in Trentino, at the foot of the imposing Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The race covers a short but demanding route of approximately 2.4 kilometers with a positive elevation gain of just over 500 meters. The start is set in the church square of Molveno (Piazza San Carlo Borromeo), while the finish line is located high up on the Pradel Plateau, which is also accessible via the Molveno-Pradel cable car. The entirely uphill course tests the endurance and power of the athletes in a stunning natural setting, amidst meadows, forests, and dolomite rock faces.
The Trofeo Vertical Molveno is more than just a sporting challenge; it is a celebration for the entire community. The sunset start, with an afternoon gathering in the town center, creates a unique atmosphere. Spectators can follow the race, and the evening concludes with the traditional pasta party, which is included in the registration fee. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in both the men's and women's categories, as well as to the youngest and oldest participants, in a spirit that celebrates mountain culture and participation.
The event is promoted by the Associazione Liberamente Giovani Molveno in collaboration with Funivie Molveno Pradel, a local entity that promotes the Pradel Plateau as a hiking and sports destination. The event is part of Molveno's rich summer calendar, which also hosts longer trail events such as the Dolomiti di Brenta Trail.
The Trofeo Vertical Molveno is expected to return in the summer of 2026 in Molveno, Trentino-Alto Adige, with its characteristic uphill race to the Pradel Plateau.
