About Trofeo Circolo Cerbaia

The Trofeo Circolo Cerbaia Prima is the signature footrace of Cerbaia, a village in Lamporecchio in the province of Pistoia, nestled in the heart of the Tuscan Montalbano hills. Organized by the Montecatini Marathon in collaboration with the Circolo Tamburini and the UISP Provincial Athletics League, it features a 13 km competitive race and a 5 km and 13 km fun run/walk, starting and finishing at the Circolo on Via della Resistenza. The scenic route passes through the grounds of Villa Rospigliosi and the Percorso della Salute.

A new race in the heart of Montalbano

The Trofeo Circolo Cerbaia Prima is a running event that brings the village of Cerbaia, in the municipality of Lamporecchio (Pistoia), to life. As part of the Tuscan road racing calendar, the event combines the competitive spirit of a professional race with the community-focused, family-friendly atmosphere of a fun run, set in a hilly landscape rich in history and panoramic views on the slopes of the Montalbano.

A route between villas and nature

The course features a gentle elevation gain, ranging from 20 to 120 meters above sea level, and treats participants to two evocative off-road sections: one within the historic Villa Rospigliosi and the other along the Percorso della Salute. The competitive race covers 13 km, while the fun run offers two options, 5 km and 13 km, catering to both trained athletes and those who simply want to enjoy a walk in the countryside.

Organization and partnerships

The event is organized by the Montecatini Marathon, one of the most active running clubs in the province of Pistoia, in close collaboration with the Circolo Tamburini of Cerbaia and with the technical support of the UISP Provincial Athletics League. The race is also supported by the Lamporecchio Municipal Administration, highlighting the strong bond between the event and the local community.

Meeting point, registration, and refreshments

The meeting point is early in the morning at the Circolo on Via della Resistenza, with the race starting in the late morning. Group and club registrations must be made via email by the evening before the event, while individual runners can register up to a few minutes before the start. At the finish line, every participant receives a race pack with food products, and awards are presented across numerous categories, from top overall women to veterans and the best-ranked clubs.

Lamporecchio and its surroundings

Lamporecchio is a small town in the Valdinievole-Montalbano area, famous for its brigidini—traditional Tuscan sweet wafers—and the monumental Villa Rospigliosi, attributed to Bernini. Running or walking in the Trofeo Circolo Cerbaia is a chance to discover an authentic corner of Tuscany, amidst hills, olive groves, and historic architecture, all while enjoying the convivial atmosphere typical of local village races.
