About Trofeo ANA

The Trofeo ANA of Busca is one of the most beloved road races in the Granda region, held every spring in the heart of this Cuneo town. Organized by Podistica Buschese in partnership with the local Alpini Group, the event features a 10-kilometer competitive race along the Maira trails and the countryside towards Rossana, accompanied by numerous youth races. It is an event that blends sport, Alpine tradition, and community spirit, attracting hundreds of athletes and enthusiasts from across Piedmont every year.

A running tradition in the heart of the Granda

The Trofeo ANA of Busca is one of the most deeply rooted events in the Cuneo running calendar. Organized by Podistica Buschese in collaboration with the Alpini Group (ANA) of Busca, the event takes place in the municipality of Busca, in the province of Cuneo, at the foot of the valleys leading to the Maritime and Cottian Alps. The event was established in 1979 and is dedicated to the Alpini who founded the sports association: it is no coincidence that the name refers to the National Alpini Association, the heart and soul of this race.

The route along the Maira trails

The competitive race winds along a course of approximately 10.1 kilometers, starting and finishing at the former Capannoni area. Athletes immediately take the famous "Maira trail," quickly cross the historic center of Busca, and head towards the hill of Rossana, running alongside the Talutto stream. Once at the top of the climb, the route returns towards Busca, passing through the hamlet of Santo Stefano, before descending to rejoin the Maira trail until the finish line. It is a varied itinerary that alternates between urban stretches, countryside, and gentle hilly climbs, highly appreciated by runners for its natural setting.

Youth races and community spirit

Before the adult competitive race, numerous youth races are held, ranging from the youngest categories to cadets, bringing the starting area to life from the morning. The organizational machine involves the Alpini, Civil Protection, the Busca Local Police, and dozens of volunteers, who ensure safety along the course with temporary road closures during the athletes' passage.

Sport, tradition, and territory

More than just a race, the Trofeo ANA is a celebration for the entire Busca community. The day combines a passion for running with the spirit of solidarity typical of the Alpine world, in a setting that showcases the Piedmont region and, in particular, the beauty of the province of Cuneo. For many runners, it is also an opportunity to kick off the spring racing season in a friendly and familiar atmosphere.
