The grand classical music season at the Verdi Theatre
The Trieste Concert Society is one of the longest-standing and most prestigious concert institutions in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Its concert season, which runs from autumn to spring, brings some of the greatest performers on the international classical scene to the stage of the Verdi Theatre and other venues in the city.
The program is divided into several complementary series: the main season at the Verdi Theatre, the early music concerts "Wunderkammer", the series in the Civic Museums that combines music, art, and history, and the Christmas season concerts. An articulated design that ranges from the great symphonic and choral repertoire to chamber music, from Baroque music to 20th-century masterpieces.
Pianists, conductors, singers, orchestras, and quartets of absolute importance take turns on stage. The Concert Society has always been a point of reference for lovers of cultured music in Trieste, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
In addition to the Verdi Theatre, concerts reach churches, museums, and Miramare Castle, making the season a journey that links great music with the most beautiful places in Trieste: a living cultural heritage that fills the city's halls every winter.
The 94th season of the Trieste Concert Society runs from October 2025 to May 2026 with 23 events spread across four series: the "Wunderkammer" early music concerts (October), the main season with 10 concerts at the Verdi Theatre (from November), the series in the Civic Museums (5 events), and the Christmas concerts (3 events in December).
Among the performers are pianists Mikhail Pletnëv, Nikolai Lugansky, and Grygorij Sokolov, the ensemble The Tallis Scholars, the Cremona Quartet, cellist Julia Hagen, and the orchestra Juilliard415. The presidency is held by Piero Lugnani, and the artistic direction by Marco Seco.
