About Triathlon Cesenatico

In Cesenatico, on the Romagna Riviera, one of the most anticipated stages of the Adriatic Series Triathlon circuit takes place. For an entire weekend in April, Piazza Marconi and the seafront transform into the headquarters for hundreds of triathletes competing over three different distances: the long AS75 No Draft, the Olympic Draft, and the Sprint No Draft. Swimming in the Adriatic waters, cycling along the coastal roads, and running through the heart of the seaside town, under the gaze of Marco Pantani's statue.

Triathlon in the heart of the Romagna Riviera

The Triathlon Cesenatico - Adriatic Series is one of the flagship stages of the Adriatic Series Triathlon circuit, the multi-discipline event of the Adriatic coast that runs throughout the season with eight appointments from spring to autumn. In Cesenatico, a pearl of the Romagna Riviera in the Province of Forlรฌ-Cesena, the event attracts around 600 athletes from all over Italy each year, transforming the seaside town into the capital of Emilia-Romagna triathlon for a weekend.

Three races, three distances

The sporting program is spread over several days and offers three distinct formats, valid for the Adriatic Series circuit ranking and approved by FITRI (Italian Triathlon Federation):

  • AS75 No Draft โ€” the long distance, with 1 km of swimming, 60 km of cycling, and 14 km of running, designed for athletes who love the challenge of long distances without drafting.
  • Olympic Draft Triathlon โ€” the classic Olympic distance: 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling, and 10 km of running.
  • Sprint No Draft Triathlon โ€” the fastest and most adrenaline-fueled event: 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling, and 5 km of running.

Piazza Marconi, at the foot of the Pirate

The race village, the transition area, and the expo area are centered in Piazza Marconi, at the foot of the statue dedicated to Marco Pantani, the "Pirata" (Pirate), a symbol of Cesenatico and Italian cycling. The swimming leg takes place in the Adriatic waters off the beach, while the cycling and running courses wind along the seafront and through the historic center, with the picturesque Leonardesco canal port as a backdrop. To ensure athlete safety, the Municipality of Cesenatico implements significant traffic modifications on race days.

An event for everyone

Beyond the competitive aspect, the Cesenatico Triathlon is a celebration for the entire community: a pasta party, awards ceremonies, and an expo area liven up the weekend, with an organization attentive to accessibility for people with disabilities. The event is organized by Flipper Triathlon with the support of the Municipality of Cesenatico and law enforcement agencies.
