Trentino Bread Festival in Storo

The Trentino Bread Festival is the spring event that the Municipality of Storo, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), dedicates to bread culture and the art of baking. Organized by the Agri '90 Cooperative at their headquarters in the Chiese Valley, the event brings together bakers, producers, and enthusiasts to celebrate a local staple: the Storo white flour, alongside the famous yellow flour used for local polenta.

A celebration of the baker's craft

The heart of the event is the bread tasting, featuring numerous varieties freshly baked by local artisans using Storo type 1 white flour. Alongside the bread, visitors can discover and purchase colombe (Easter cakes), pastries, and artisanal cookies throughout the day. Tastings are accompanied by cured meats, speck, mountain cheeses, and olive oil, as well as local wines and craft beers from Trentino breweries.

Lunch and conviviality

At noon, the festival comes alive with a polenta and spit-roast lunch, a signature dish of the Chiese Valley's culinary tradition, with options for local meat and cheese platters. The lunch is available by reservation and is one of the most popular moments of the event, bringing families, producers, and visitors together around the table.

Solidarity and tradition

Each edition features the iconic giant bread raffle: participants try to guess the weight of an enormous loaf, with proceeds donated to local and international charitable causes. The day is enlivened by live music and speeches from cooperative representatives and local officials, creating a festive atmosphere that blends gastronomy, rural culture, and community spirit.

A taste of the Chiese Valley

Created to protect and promote Trentino's baked goods, the festival has grown year after year into a recognized showcase for local bakers and producers, with the support of the Municipality and Pro Loco of Storo, the BIM Valle del Chiese Consortium, and the Trentino Bakers Association. For those visiting the Chiese Valley, it is the perfect opportunity to discover the culinary soul of Storo and Trentino through its bread.
