About Trail della Diga

The Trail della Diga is a running event that brings Mongrando, in the province of Biella, Piedmont, to life every spring. Organized by the La Vetta Running association, the race offers three routes along the trails of the Bosco del Vallino, featuring spectacular views of the dam: a 32 km competitive race, a 15 km intermediate race, and an 8 km non-competitive walk open to families, schools, and enthusiasts. An event that combines sport, nature, and local territory.

A celebration of running on the Biellese trails

The Trail della Diga is one of the most anticipated events in the running calendar of Mongrando, a small town in the province of Biella, in the heart of Piedmont. Organized by the La Vetta Running sports association, the event attracts hundreds of runners and walkers every spring, who gather to run along the paths of the picturesque Bosco del Vallino, treating participants to a spectacular view of the dam that gives the race its name.

Three routes for every level

The Trail della Diga is designed to welcome athletes of all levels, from expert trail runners to families. The event offers three distances:

  • 32 km competitive (approx. 900 m elevation gain): the main route, technical and demanding, aimed at well-trained runners;
  • 15 km competitive (approx. 450 m elevation gain): an intermediate distance, technical yet accessible;
  • 8 km non-competitive: a participatory format dedicated to walkers, youth, and families.

Starts and finishes are located at the Centro Polivalente of Mongrando, the logistics hub for the day.

Sport, territory, and conviviality

The Trail della Diga is more than just a competition: it is a true village festival that involves the entire community of Mongrando. The day concludes with the unmissable Pasta Party, a social moment that is a central element of the event, accompanied by a rich race pack and refreshment points along all routes. The start area also hosts an exhibition space featuring technical products and local sports organizations.

Rooted in the territory

The event promotes the natural heritage of the Biella area and actively involves local families and schools, with a focus on promoting outdoor sports and discovering local trails. Approved by FIDAL Piedmont, the race has established itself as one of the reference trail events in the province of Biella, growing with each edition while maintaining the amateur and convivial spirit of its origins.
