The international youth tournament lighting up the Mugello
The Toscana Soccer Cup is one of the most anticipated events in the youth football landscape in Tuscany and beyond. Each year, between spring and early summer, the tournament draws hundreds of young players, their families, and scouts from major Italian youth academies to the heart of the Mugello. The event is based in Borgo San Lorenzo, in the Metropolitan City of Florence, but matches are played at various sports facilities throughout the Mugello area.
The competition is dedicated to youth categories, specifically Esordienti and Pulcini, featuring children and teenagers born between 2013 and 2016. It is a precious opportunity for young athletes to test themselves against peers from professional academies in a serious yet fun environment, where sporting growth, respect, and team spirit are paramount. The international dimension of the tournament, with teams arriving from outside the region and abroad, makes it an important showcase for grassroots football.
Over the years, the Toscana Soccer Cup has hosted youth academies from numerous professional Italian clubs, including ACF Fiorentina, Empoli FC, Bologna FC 1909, Spezia Calcio, Ternana Calcio, and US Livorno 1915, alongside clubs such as Vis Pesaro, Forlì, Carpi, and Perugia. They are joined by many amateur teams from various Italian regions, enlivening the competition with dozens of squads and hundreds of matches.
The Toscana Soccer Cup is organized by FCD Borgo San Lorenzo in collaboration with the travel agency Mugel Travel and local sports clubs. It is a collective event that involves the entire Mugello region, with facilities in towns such as Scarperia e San Piero, Vicchio, Vaglia, Barberino, and Dicomano. For families, it is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Tuscany, nestled among the hills and villages of the province of Florence, far from the most crowded tourist circuits.
