The summer music residency for young Abruzzo talents in the village of mosaics
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Tornareccio Music Camp is a summer music camp held every July in Tornareccio, a small village in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. For several days, the town hosts around fifty young musicians from all over Abruzzo, who undergo an intensive training experience alongside established teachers and artists. It is not a traditional concert festival, but an educational and cultural project that opens its evenings to the public with free performances.
The event was established in 2021 through a collaboration between the Municipality of Tornareccio, the cultural association L'Olandese Volante, and the Centro Didattico Musicando of Pescara, following the success of a concert hosted during the "Tornareccio Regina di Miele" event. The camp has since become part of the effort to promote the artistic, natural, and gastronomic heritage of the town, which is famous throughout the region for the mosaics that decorate its walls and for its honey production. The artistic direction is led by Prof. Manuela Martinelli.
The camp days are marked by a rich program of morning workshops: flute ensembles, chamber music and piano, choir, orchestra, and contemporary repertoire, alongside masterclasses with prominent guests. Every evening, a concert or performance enlivens the squares and districts of the historic center, culminating in a grand final concert in the evocative setting of the Monte Pallano Natural Park. Locations involved in recent editions include the San Giovanni district, Piazza Fontana, and the town's historic center.
The Tornareccio Music Camp is a precious opportunity for young people looking to grow musically in an immersive setting, far from traditional classrooms. The encounter between young students, professional teachers, and guest artists creates a stimulating environment where music dialogues with the beauty of the mosaics, the nature of Monte Pallano, and the identity of the Abruzzo village. For residents and visitors, the evenings become a chance to rediscover the town through live music.
