The patronal celebrations of Carpineto Sinello, blending devotion, music, and tradition
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
At the end of September, the small village of Carpineto Sinello, in the province of Chieti, gathers around its patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel, for several days of festivities that weave together popular faith, music, and conviviality. Nestled at an altitude of approximately 381 meters in the Sinello Valley, at the foot of Monte Sorbo, this Abruzzo town of a few hundred inhabitants experiences its patronal feast as one of the most heartfelt moments of the year, drawing back emigrants and families with ties to the village.
The program traditionally centers around September 29th and 30th, the days dedicated to the Archangel, with religious celebrations marking the most solemn part of the festivities: holy masses, the procession with the statue of the patron saint through the streets of the historic center, and moments of prayer at the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel. Alongside the devotional aspect, the Festival Committee organizes a civil program featuring shows and concerts that keep the evenings lively until late at night.
The patronal evenings have always been accompanied by live music, dance orchestras, tribute bands, and concerts that turn the town square into an open-air stage. In recent editions, the village has hosted tributes to 1980s music and concerts by well-known national artists, drawing large crowds from the neighboring towns of the Vasto and Sangro-Aventino areas.
The Patronal Feast represents much more than just entertainment: it is an occasion for the community of Carpineto Sinello to renew its bond with Saint Michael the Archangel and its own roots. The calendar pairs musical evenings with local gastronomic traditions, stalls, and social gatherings that make the festival a defining event for the entire village.
Visiting Carpineto Sinello during the patronal feast means discovering an authentic corner of the Chieti province hinterland, dominated by its 18th-century castle and surrounded by the cultivated hills of inland Abruzzo. The Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel is, along with the Feast of Saint Vincent in August and the Porchetta Festival, one of the key events that mark the summer and the beginning of autumn in the village.
The 2026 edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel in Carpineto Sinello has not yet been officially confirmed. The dates indicated are provisional and follow the traditional timing of the festival, around September 29th and 30th. The full program, including religious celebrations and evening musical events, will be announced by the Festival Committee and the Municipality in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Patronal Feast takes place in the historic center of Carpineto Sinello (CH), in Abruzzo, with religious celebrations at the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel (Salita Castello area) and evening shows in the main square.
