A carnival celebration designed for children in the heart of the Asti Monferrato
The Tigliole Carnival is the most anticipated winter event for families in this small town in the province of Asti, nestled in the hills of the Asti Monferrato, in Piedmont. Far from the grand masked parades and allegorical floats of the big cities, the Tigliole festival embraces an intimate, family-friendly atmosphere, putting the true stars of Carnival center stage: the children. Organized by the Tigliole Children's Committee with the support of the municipality, the event has grown over the years thanks to the dedication of volunteer parents and local associations.
The festival takes place in the afternoon, transforming the town's public spaces into a large open-air playground. The meeting point is the Tigliole Town Hall, where a program designed to engage children of all ages begins: games and entertainment, a face painting session at the Community Center, a magic show where children become the protagonists amidst tricks and comedy, and a high-energy finale with baby dance and musical games. Wearing a costume is highly recommended to add color to an already lively day.
More than just a spectacular event, the Tigliole Carnival is a moment of connection for the entire community. Past editions have seen the participation of local groups such as the La Tenentina Music Band and the Nasi Rossi Association of Asti, confirming a vibrant and dedicated local network. Piรฑatas, snacks for everyone, and the enthusiasm of the little ones complete a picture that makes this festival a small jewel in the Asti carnival calendar.
Tigliole is a town of just over 1,700 inhabitants located about fifteen kilometers from the provincial capital, Asti, known for its Romanesque church of San Lorenzo and its vineyard-covered hills. Visiting the town during Carnival is also a chance to discover an authentic corner of rural Piedmont, defined by warm hospitality, local products, and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
The 2026 Tigliole Carnival was held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, confirming the child-friendly formula that characterizes the event. The meeting point was set for 2:00 PM at the Tigliole Town Hall, in the province of Asti.
