About The Taste of a Walk

Il Gusto di una Passeggiata is the travelling event that every summer transforms the path between Chamois and La Magdeleine, two villages in Valtournenche famous for being almost traffic-free, into a widespread open-air market. Along the way, you'll find stands of local artisans and producers, tastings of Aosta Valley and Piedmontese specialities, refreshment points, and entertainment for children. A day that combines the pleasure of mountain walking with shopping and local flavours.

A walk that becomes a market

Il Gusto di una Passeggiata is now a classic summer event in Valtournenche, bringing together two small twin villages: Chamois and La Magdeleine. Along the path connecting the two villages, numerous stalls are set up for an entire day, creating a widespread market immersed in the pastures and landscapes of the Matterhorn.

Crafts, local products, and tastings

Walking from one village to the other, you'll encounter stands of local artisans and producers, where you can buy handicrafts, food and wine specialities, and typical products from the Aosta Valley and Piedmont. Along the route, there are refreshment points and tastings, allowing you to savour local products while strolling. For the little ones, there is entertainment throughout the day.

Slow tourism at the foot of the Matterhorn

Chamois and La Magdeleine are known for their choice to drastically limit car traffic: Chamois, in particular, is only accessible by cable car or on foot and is considered one of the symbols of alpine slow tourism. This makes the event even more special: you walk in the silence of the mountains, between the two villages, far from the noise of cars.

A community-loved event

Organised by the Chamois Tourist Office (Love Chamois) together with the municipal administration, Il Gusto di una Passeggiata attracts many visitors every year, thanks to the unique setting and convivial atmosphere. An authentic way to discover this tranquil corner of the Aosta Valley, amidst nature, flavours, and tradition.
