The festival of wool and shepherds
L'Altopiano dei Pastori is the festival that Malga Col del Vento dedicates each year to the pastoral culture of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, in Cesuna, a hamlet of Roana in the province of Vicenza. An event that focuses on the ancient knowledge of the mountains, the value of alpine wool, and the Foza sheep, an indigenous breed now at risk of extinction.
Between workshops, excursions, and flavors
The program combines guided visits to the Foza breed flock, felt, spinning, and weaving workshops, professional shearing demonstrations, and a wool market with artisanal products—wool crafts, leather goods, candles, and cheeses. There are also excursions along ancient pastoral routes, transhumance events, and Cimbrian dinners that showcase Foza lamb and local gastronomic traditions.
Cimbrian culture and breed protection
The festival is also an opportunity for cultural deepening, with conferences such as "WoolShed" on the future of alpine wool, as part of the European Interreg Alpine Space project, and meetings on the cultural identity of the Foza sheep. An event that combines education, biodiversity protection, and mountain pasture life, in the heart of the Vicenza plateau.

From June 12 to 14, 2026, Malga Col del Vento in Cesuna di Roana hosts a new edition of L'Altopiano dei Pastori, the festival dedicated to the ancient pastoral knowledge of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. The program includes visits to the Foza breed flock, felt, spinning, and weaving workshops, shearing demonstrations, excursions along pastoral routes, a wool market, and dinners featuring Foza lamb. Most activities are free but require booking, with limited places.

How to get there
Cesuna di Roana can be reached by car from the A31 motorway (Piovene Rocchette exit), heading up towards the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. Malga Col del Vento is located in the pastures above Cesuna, about 8 km from Asiago.
