Lodi's literary festival between words and water
Il Fiume dei Libri is the literary festival of Lodi, the provincial capital in Lombardy, created to revitalize the city's cultural environment and bring the Adda River back to the heart of city life. The guiding idea is simple and evocative: culture flows like water, making fertile all it touches. This metaphor forms the basis of a program that intertwines literature, environment, and sustainability.
The festival brings over twenty-five prominent Italian authors to Lodi, with encounters primarily hosted in Piazza della Vittoria and at the Piarda Ferrari, a picturesque spot overlooking the river. Dialogues, presentations, and readings animate the days, offering the public the chance to meet established and emerging writers up close.
The artistic direction is entrusted to Cadore 33. In addition to literary encounters, the festival offers previews, collateral events, and spread-out moments that open Lodi's summer cultural season. It is an event that has quickly won over its audience, intertwining great literature with themes of water and the environment, in deep harmony with the city's river identity.
The third edition of Il Fiume dei Libri is held in Lodi from June 10 to 14, 2026, with the main venue in Piazza della Vittoria and Piarda Ferrari. Artistic direction by Cadore 33.
