Lodi, the Italian capital of photojournalism
The Lodi Festival of Ethical Photography is one of the most important Italian events dedicated to photojournalism and documentary photography. Every autumn, for about a month, exhibitions fill the historic palaces in the center of Lodi, the provincial capital in Lombardy, transforming the city into a grand visual narrative of the major themes of our time: conflicts, rights, environment, migrations, society.
The heart of the festival is the World Report Award – Documenting Humanity, the only Italian award entirely dedicated to photographic reporting, which attracts authors from all over the world. Alongside its sections is the prestigious exhibition of World Press Photo and the projects from the Open Call Nonprofit World, created in collaboration with international non-governmental organizations.
The exhibitions are spread across multiple venues in the center of Lodi, from Palazzo BCC Centropadana to Spazio Bipielle Arte of the Fondazione Banca Popolare di Lodi. In addition to the exhibitions, the festival offers meetings with photographers, portfolio reviews, workshops, and moments of reflection on the ethical role of images. For enthusiasts and professionals, it is an unmissable event; for the city, a source of pride and international appeal.
The seventeenth edition of the Festival of Ethical Photography is held in Lodi from September 26 to October 25, 2026. The festival offers exhibitions spread throughout the historic center's venues: the World Report Award – Documenting Humanity, the only Italian award dedicated to photographic reporting, is displayed at Palazzo BCC Centropadana, while the World Press Photo exhibition is hosted in collaboration with Spazio Bipielle Arte of the Fondazione Banca Popolare di Lodi. The Open Call Nonprofit World 2026 section presents six documentary projects created with international non-governmental organizations.
The complete program of exhibitions and collateral events will be published on the festival's official website.
