Three days of mountains, sports, and sustainable tourism at the foot of Monviso, in Saluzzo
The Terres Monviso Outdoor Festival is the annual spring event that transforms Saluzzo into the Piedmontese capital of mountains and outdoor sports. Established in 2022 by Ermanno Bressy and the Compagnia & Rete del Buon Cammino, the event takes place in the heart of the Province of Cuneo, at the foot of the "King of Stone," Monviso, the iconic symbol of the Terres Monviso region.
More than just a fair, the festival defines itself as a true laboratory of ideas, encounters, and visions: a space where mountain culture, sustainable tourism, and a passion for the outdoors meet and share stories. The event is promoted by Terres Monviso in collaboration with the Compagnia & Rete del Buon Cammino, with the support of local administrations, tourism operators, and regional mountain guides.
The beating heart of the festival is Il Quartiere, the former Musso Barracks at Piazza Montebello 1, which hosts exhibition stands, food areas, and spaces dedicated to the local valleys. Activities then extend throughout the streets and squares of the historic center of Saluzzo, one of the most charming art cities in Piedmont. The most recent edition featured over 60 stands, 6 kitchen areas, and 7 "Valley Gates" dedicated to discovering the different sides of the territory.
The festival offers dozens of public appointments and over fifty educational proposals aimed at schools, involving thousands of students each year. Among the many experiential activities, visitors can try:
Alongside sports activities, the festival dedicates ample space to mountain culture: documentary screenings, travelogues, conferences with geologists, mountain guides, and experts, as well as a preview week featuring evening meetings. CAI mountain guides, park authorities, and local associations host workshops and moments of naturalistic exploration.
The Terres Monviso Outdoor Festival is much more than a sporting event: it is an opportunity to tell the story of the mountain identity of Piedmont, promote sustainable tourism, and build a community around a shared passion for nature. In Saluzzo, every spring, the mountains come down to the city.
The 5th edition of the Terres Monviso Outdoor Festival was held in Saluzzo from March 13 to 15, 2026, with a preview week from March 9 to 12 dedicated to evening screenings and meetings.
The main program kicked off on Friday, March 13, with "Didattiland" educational activities and the evening screening of the documentary "Guts". Saturday, March 14, was the highlight, featuring the Saluzzo Street Boulder Festival, the "E-motion" conference, the official inauguration, the "Tra le antiche mura" race, and the climbing finals. Sunday, March 15, closed the festival with the Terres Monviso Gravel, a 67 km cycle tourism route.
Saluzzo can be reached by car from Cuneo (about 30 minutes) and from Turin (about 1 hour) via the SS589. By train, the Saluzzo station is connected to the regional Piedmontese network. The festival venues, Il Quartiere (Piazza Montebello 1) and the historic center, are easily accessible on foot.
Admission to the exhibition area at Il Quartiere is free. Some activities, competitions, and screenings require registration or booking (for example, the free evening screenings require a reservation, and competitions like the Terres Monviso Gravel require a fee). It is recommended to check the official program and updated schedules on the organization's website.
We recommend comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities. Spring in the mountains can be cool: it is best to dress in layers. Saluzzo offers plenty of restaurants, inns, and accommodation facilities for those wishing to stay for several days.
