About Terre Sicane Wine Fest

Every summer, Contessa Entellina—a small Arbëreshë village in the Monti Sicani Park in the province of Palermo—becomes the capital of Sicilian wine with the Terre Sicane Wine Fest. Between the streets of the historic center and the evocative Cloister of the Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco, the festival features masterclasses, tasting counters, guided tastings, local cuisine, live music, and performances. An event that celebrates the five DOCs of the Terre Sicane Wine Route and the identity of a land where wine tourism, culture, and tradition meet.

A toast in the heart of the Monti Sicani

The Terre Sicane Wine Fest is the premier food and wine event in Contessa Entellina, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Palermo nestled within the Monti Sicani Park. As a village of ancient Arbëreshë foundation, where the Greek-Byzantine rite and Albanian-origin traditions still thrive, Contessa Entellina hosts this festival every summer, created to promote and showcase the quality wines of the Terre Sicane and the entire surrounding region.

The wine of the Terre Sicane

The festival is organized by the Strada del Vino Terre Sicane (Terre Sicane Wine Route) in partnership with the Municipality of Contessa Entellina. The Terre Sicane area encompasses five Sicilian DOC denominations and brings together the municipalities of Contessa Entellina, Menfi, Montevago, Sambuca di Sicilia, and Santa Margherita Belìce—a region straddling the provinces of Palermo and Agrigento, renowned for its viticultural heritage and internationally acclaimed wineries.

Masterclasses, tastings, and performances

The program takes place across the town center, with free-entry events and side shows, and the Cloister of the Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco, a 14th-century monument that provides a stunning backdrop for the main evenings. Throughout the days, the schedule includes:

  • Masterclasses and guided tastings with experts and producers;
  • Tasting counters featuring the best local wines;
  • Gastronomic offerings showcasing typical local products;
  • Live music, DJ sets, and performances animating the squares;
  • the Terre Sicane Award, presented by a panel of experts to the best wine.

An event for Sicilian wine tourism

Integrated into a broader project for the development of wine tourism in the Terre Sicane, the festival aims to bring operators and enthusiasts directly to the production sites, intertwining wine, culture, and hospitality. In recent years, it has been enriched by twinning initiatives with other Italian wine routes and projects like the "Terre Sicane Wine List." For those visiting Sicily in the summer, the Terre Sicane Wine Fest is a unique opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Palermo hinterland, glass in hand.

Terre Sicane Wine Fest — edition 2026

The eighth edition of the Terre Sicane Wine Fest is confirmed in Contessa Entellina from July 24 to 26, 2026. Three days of masterclasses, tasting counters, tastings of wines from the five Terre Sicane DOCs, local cuisine, live music, and performances, between the village's historic center and the Cloister of the Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco. The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.

The Terre Sicane Wine Fest 2026 returns to Contessa Entellina from July 24 to 26, 2026 for its eighth edition. Once again, the event will take place across the town center, with free-entry events, and the evenings at the Cloister of the Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco.

The 2026 edition is part of a project to relaunch wine tourism in the Terre Sicane, which has included participation in Vinitaly and the creation of the "Terre Sicane Wine List." Masterclasses, guided tastings, tasting counters with local wineries, gastronomic offerings, music, and performances are confirmed, along with the Terre Sicane Award for the best wine. The complete program and 2026 line-up will be announced by the organizers on official channels; the main evening at the Abbey will be ticketed via Vivaticket.
