The Volunteer Firefighters' Festival of Teis, in Val di Funes
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Teiserfest der FF Teis is the traditional summer festival of the Volunteer Firefighters of Teis (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Teis), held in the small village of Teis (Tiso), part of the Municipality of Funes/Villnöß, in the Isarco Valley of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol. Like many South Tyrolean volunteer firefighter festivals, the event began as a way to raise funds and thank the community, eventually becoming one of the most cherished local summer traditions.
The festival is usually held in August, with its base at the Teis Feuerwehrhalle, the village fire station. The event kicks off on the first day in the late afternoon, when the hall and the outdoor area come alive with Tyrolean culinary specialties and live music that keeps the party going late into the night.
The final day has a more traditional and community-focused feel: it opens in the morning with an entrance parade and a concert by the Teis Brass Band (Musikkapelle Teis), the heart of the village's social life. Afterward, grilled specialties are served, while entertainment continues with performances by local groups. A particularly anticipated moment is the demonstration by the youth fire brigade team (Jugendfeuerwehr), which showcases the dedication and training of the corps' new recruits.
The Teiserfest reflects the spirit of South Tyrolean mountain communities, where volunteer fire brigades, brass bands, and village associations are at the center of social life. Located in the picturesque Val di Funes, world-famous for its views of the Odle peaks and Dolomite pastures, the village of Teis offers visitors the chance to experience an authentic Tyrolean folk festival, far from the main tourist crowds. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is the genuine, family-friendly one typical of the Isarco Valley villages.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced; the festival is traditionally held in August. To confirm the schedule, it is advisable to follow the official channels of the Teis Volunteer Firefighters and the Municipality of Funes/Villnöß.
