A month of theatre, comedy, and free workshops on the Roman coast
Teatri d'Arrembaggio is the multidisciplinary festival that brings the Teatro del Lido di Ostia to life every July, located in the Municipio X of Rome, on the Lazio coast. Conceived and curated by the Valdrada company, the festival was founded in 2016 and celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025, becoming a staple of the Roman summer just steps from the beach. The event is promoted by Roma Capitale - Department of Culture and supported through the city's public grants.
The subtitle Piraterie, InCanti, and Castelli di Sabbia reflects the heart of the festival, which is structured into three parallel paths designed for different audiences:
The hallmark of Teatri d'Arrembaggio is that it is completely free: all shows are open-access, while registration is required for the workshops. This choice transforms the Teatro del Lido into a truly accessible and participatory space, fostering dialogue between different generations and languages. Over the years, the festival has tackled themes such as inclusion, interculturalism, and rights, always maintaining an ironic and popular perspective.
The festival takes place in one of the most iconic locations on the Lazio coast. The Teatro del Lido, on Via delle Sirene, is a cultural hub born from citizen participation and is now a reference point for the capital's independent theatre scene. Attending Teatri d'Arrembaggio means experiencing Ostia beyond the beach, discovering the artistic vitality of a neighborhood that fills with Romans and tourists during the summer. It is the perfect opportunity to combine a day at the seaside with an evening of theatre.
From July 3rd to 26th, 2026, the Teatro del Lido di Ostia hosts the new edition of Teatri d'Arrembaggio, with 16 completely free events conceived by Valdrada and promoted by Roma Capitale as part of the "Roma Creativa 365" project. The festival confirms its structure in three sections, with evening shows for adults, children's theatre, and workshops for families.
The evening section for adult audiences opens on July 3rd with Daniele Parisi in Non รจ uno sport acquatico, followed on July 4th by Chiara Becchimanzi with Eroina - non solo stand up comedy show. Other highlights include: Karma B with Cominciamo male (July 10th), Simonetta Musitano (July 11th), Salmoni by Walter Cerrotta and Giorgia Conteduca (July 17th), the Compagnia Lesibu with a text by Max Vado (July 24th), and Pietro Sparacino in Lucido (July 25th).
