Tartufesta del Po

A festival entirely dedicated to truffles

The Tartufesta del Po is the autumn gastronomic festival of Carbonara di Po, a hamlet in the Municipality of Borgocarbonara, in the province of Mantua. Now in its twentieth edition, it is one of the most anticipated events in the Oltrepò Mantovano for fans of the prized Tuber Magnatum Pico, the white truffle that grows wild in the riverside woods of the Po.

Borgocarbonara, City of Truffles

Carbonara di Po, along with nearby Borgofranco, is part of the territory of Borgocarbonara, recognized as a City of Truffles. It is a borderland between Lombardy, Emilia, and Veneto, where the truffle culture has been rooted for generations and has given rise to two major autumn events, each with its own identity.

The traditional menu

The heart of the Tartufesta is the cuisine of the Pro Loco Carbonarese, hosted in the Sala Polivalente Auser on Via Marconi, which is heated and air-conditioned. The menu is a journey into Mantuan tradition enhanced by truffles:

• truffle appetizers;
• white truffle risotto;
• white truffle tagliolini;
• truffle tortelli and agnoli;
• scaloppine with truffle fondue;
• cheeses and homemade desserts.

Inside the hall, there is also a market pavilion with typical local products. The event takes place over several weekends between late October and November, with dinner on Fridays and Saturdays and lunch on Sundays.
