Christmas markets in the heart of Verona, between Piazza dei Signori and its historic courtyards
Natale in Piazza is the event that brings Christmas markets to the historic centre of Verona. Wooden stalls are set up in the area behind Piazza delle Erbe, between Piazza dei Signori and its courtyards, the Cortile del Mercato Vecchio, and the Cortile del Tribunale, creating a picturesque route through medieval and Renaissance palaces.
The markets feature around one hundred stands offering gift ideas, Christmas decorations, handicrafts, typical products, and gastronomic specialities: from mulled wine to spiced sweets, in an atmosphere reminiscent of Central European market traditions. The large twenty-meter-high Bauli fir tree, standing tall at Porta Nuova to welcome visitors to the city, is also present.
Verona's Christmas is not just about markets: the city is illuminated with decorations, hosts a nativity scene exhibition, concerts, and cultural initiatives, as well as areas dedicated to ice skating. Verona, famous for its Christmas sweets like pandoro and nadalรฌn, celebrates the holidays with a packed calendar of events.
Promoted by the Municipality of Verona, the Christmas markets have become a fixed fixture of the city's winter, attracting visitors from all over Veneto and beyond, with free shuttle buses connecting car parks to the historic centre on weekends.
The 2026 edition of Natale in Piazza brings the Christmas markets back to Verona's historic centre, in the area between Piazza dei Signori and the courtyards of the Mercato Vecchio and Tribunale. Around a hundred stalls offer gift ideas, decorations, typical products, and gastronomic specialities, from mulled wine to spiced sweets.
The precise dates and the full 2026 program will be confirmed by the Municipality of Verona in the weeks leading up to the event. The twenty-meter-high Bauli fir tree at Porta Nuova and the free weekend shuttle buses will return.
