The winter music festival of Alpe di Siusi, across slopes, mountain huts, and the villages of the Sciliar area
Swing on Snow — Alpe di Siusi Winter Music Festival is one of the most original winter musical events in South Tyrol. Set on the Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) plateau—the largest high-altitude Alpine meadow in Europe at the foot of the Sciliar massif—the festival transforms the slopes, mountain huts, and villages into a grand open-air stage for two weekends in March. The setting is the municipality of Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
The Swing on Snow formula is designed to accompany skiers, snowboarders, and hikers throughout the day. In the morning, the first notes resonate at the Alpe di Siusi cable car mountain station; at noon, the music moves to high-altitude mountain huts and lodges, where you can stop for lunch with bands playing just steps away from your table. Evenings are dedicated to après-ski concerts in the four host villages—Castelrotto (Kastelruth), Siusi (Seis am Schlern), Fiè (Völs am Schlern), and Tires (Tiers am Rosengarten)—in atmospheres so intimate they feel like living-room concerts.
The musical program is intentionally eclectic: it starts with authentic Alpine folk music and opens up to jazz, soul, pop, brass music, and world music. Over the years, Swing on Snow has hosted prominent musicians from the South Tyrolean area and beyond, such as South Tyrolean guitarist Manuel Randi and the brass ensemble Federspiel. Recognized as a Green Event, the festival combines winter sports, great music, and environmental awareness in an exceptional landscape.
One of the hallmarks of Swing on Snow is that it is free: all concerts have free admission and no seat reservations are required. The event is organized by Alpe di Siusi Marketing and represents one of the highlights of the winter calendar in the Alpe di Siusi area, in the autonomous province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige.
The 2026 edition of Swing on Snow marked an important milestone, celebrating twenty years of the Alpe di Siusi Winter Music Festival. As per tradition, the festival was spread over two weekends in March, featuring morning concerts on the slopes and at the cable car mountain station, midday performances in high-altitude mountain huts, and après-ski evenings in the four villages of the Sciliar area. All concerts were free and required no booking.
