Three days dedicated to the environment, schools, and sustainable mobility on Lake Maggiore
The Sustainability Festival is an event that, every spring, puts the environment at the heart of Arona, on Lake Maggiore, in the Province of Novara (Piedmont). Launched in 2025 by the municipal administration, it is a "widespread" event: it is not concentrated in a single location or day, but spread over three days and various city spaces, from the lakefront to Largo Vidale, from Punta Vevera to Piazza del Popolo, involving schools, families, associations, and citizens.
The festival's common thread is the younger generation. The first day is entirely dedicated to Arona's preschools and primary schools, such as the Nicotera and Cesare Battisti: students present projects created during the school year on topics like recycling, circular economy, and waste sorting. The students' work is exhibited to the public in the Town Hall portico, while a symbolic tree planting seals the community's commitment to the future.
The civic heart of the event is the "Keep Arona Clean" Ecological Day, a historic appointment now in its eighth edition, where volunteers and citizens meet at Largo Vidale to clean up public areas. Alongside the cleanup, sustainability stands showcase good environmental practices, while soft mobility takes center stage with the Flowered Bike Ride, a cheerful bike ride that crosses the city streets starting from Piazza del Popolo.
Between workshops for children like the Recycling Gymkhana, meetings, and festive moments, the Arona Sustainability Festival combines environmental education and social interaction. It is a demonstration of how a lakeside municipality can turn environmental protection into an opportunity for collective growth, involving new generations firsthand.
The second edition of the Sustainability Festival animated Arona from May 22 to 24, 2026, with a widespread program that combined education, environment, and participation. Promoted by the Municipality of Arona with the Pro Loco, local schools, and the Ornamentum association, the event confirmed the formula established the previous year.
The event alternated between the day dedicated to student projects, the eighth edition of the "Keep Arona Clean" Ecological Day, and the customary Flowered Bike Ride, a moment of celebration and soft mobility on the Arona lakefront.
Corso Europa and Punta Vevera, from 9:00 AM.

Arona is well-connected: by train, the Arona station is on the MilanโDomodossola line; by car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (Arona exit). The events take place in the city center, between Largo Vidale, the lakefront, Punta Vevera, and Piazza del Popolo, all within walking distance.
Participation in the festival's initiatives is free and open to everyone.
