Chamber music concerts between the Hotel Centrale and the Archaeological Museum of Piombino
Sundays in Music is the annual appointment with classical and chamber music presented by the Etruria Classica Cultural Association in Piombino, a coastal city in the province of Livorno, Tuscany. The series transforms Sunday afternoons into moments of intimate, high-quality listening, featuring nationally and internationally acclaimed performers with programs ranging from the classical repertoire to jazz and film scores.
The 2025/2026 season stands out for a richer and more structured program, distributed across two venues. The first part of the concerts is held in the Hotel Centrale Congress Hall, located in Piazza Giuseppe Verdi in the heart of Piombino. The second part takes place in an exceptional setting: the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia in Piazza Cittadella, where music engages in a dialogue with the Etruscan and Roman artifacts of the area. The opportunity to combine a guided tour of the museum with the concert makes the experience even more complete.
The programs of Sundays in Music span centuries and genres: from the romantic piano of Chopin and Rachmaninov to the great masters of classicism like Mozart and Beethoven, and even surprising combinations of classical music and jazz, such as tributes to Ennio Morricone and Claude Bolling. Soloists and chamber ensembles take turns on stage: pianists, flutists, harpists, violinists, and saxophone quartets, balancing great classics with more original selections.
Supported by the municipal administration of Piombino, the series is now a consolidated tradition of the city's cultural life. With affordable tickets and the setting of the Archaeological Museum, Sundays in Music represents a precious opportunity to discover chamber music in an intimate and welcoming context, just a stone's throw from the sea and the Gulf of Baratti.
The 2025/2026 edition offered a particularly rich lineup, distributed across two Piombino venues: the Hotel Centrale Congress Hall for the autumn cycle and the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia for the winter cycle. The concerts ranged from the great romantic piano repertoire to encounters between classical music and jazz, featuring nationally and internationally renowned performers.
For concerts at the museum, guided tours were available from 15:00.
