Classical concert series at the Municipal Casino of Arco
Sundays in Music is one of the longest-running and most appreciated concert series in Trentino. Every year, on the Sunday afternoons of January, the Ballroom of the Municipal Casino of Arco hosts a series of free classical music concerts, drawing enthusiasts and curious visitors from across the Upper Garda region and nearby towns like Riva del Garda and Torbole. The series is promoted by the Camerata Musicale Città di Arco in collaboration with the Lega Vita Serena, with the support of the Municipality of Arco and the Cassa Rurale Alto Garda-Rovereto.
The lineup balances diverse genres and ensembles: from piano recitals to chamber duos for strings, from concerts dedicated to operetta to symphonic performances by the Camerata Musicale Città di Arco orchestra. Each Sunday offers a different mood, ranging from the classical and romantic repertoire to French 20th-century works, with forays into the brilliant and nostalgic world of Central European operetta. Concerts begin in the early afternoon, typically at 3:30 PM, in an elegant and intimate setting perfectly suited for listening.
The venue for the series is the historic Municipal Casino of Arco, a building that symbolizes Arco's past as a renowned Habsburg health resort. Its ballroom, with its period acoustics and atmosphere, provides the ideal backdrop for high-quality musical performances, designed for an intergenerational audience and made accessible to all thanks to free admission.
In the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Arco, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), Sundays in Music represents a cornerstone of the winter season. Now in its thirtieth year, the series testifies to the strong bond between the Upper Garda territory and the tradition of classical music, offering residents and the many visitors who choose Arco even in the cold season an opportunity to gather around great music.
The 31st edition of Sundays in Music opened on Sunday, January 11, 2026, with the "Strings in Harmony" concert by the duo formed by violinist Domenico Nordio and pianist Orazio Sciortino, featuring music by Mozart, Debussy, Ravel, and Poulenc. The series continued on subsequent Sundays, concluding on Sunday, February 1, 2026, with a concert dedicated to the symphonic works of Ludwig van Beethoven, featuring the Camerata Musicale Città di Arco conducted by Orazio Sciortino with violin soloist Elisa Cecchini. All events were held at 3:30 PM in the Municipal Casino ballroom, with free admission.
The Municipal Casino is located in the center of Arco, easily accessible by car from the Rovereto Sud exit (A22) by following signs for Riva del Garda and Arco. Ample parking is available near the center. By train, the reference station is Rovereto, which is connected to Arco by local bus lines.
Concerts are held on Sunday afternoons, generally starting at 3:30 PM. Admission is free; for some events, booking may be recommended. Updated information is available on the Municipality of Arco website.
