The night of August 14th at the Tourist Port Amphitheatre in Maiori
The Summer New Year's Eve is the unmissable event that transforms the Maiori Tourist Port Amphitheatre into a massive open-air dance floor overlooking the sea every August 14th. The formula is simple and iconic: celebrating the eve of Ferragosto like New Year's Eve with DJ sets, special effects, and a collective countdown. It has become a rite of passage for the beach season in the Province of Salerno and one of the defining nights for the youth scene on the Campania coast.
The event is created and produced by Amalfi Coast Nightlife, a local entertainment group. Early editions drew large, youthful crowds: in 2024, Vol. 3 was hailed by organizers as a resounding success with extraordinary turnout, supported by local law enforcement and the Rotary Club for alcohol awareness campaigns. 2025 saw the fourth edition, the Luna Park Edition, featuring online ticketing. Today, the Summer New Year's Eve is an official part of the Municipality of Maiori program, alongside concerts by major Italian music stars hosted on the same stage throughout August.
Much of the evening's charm lies in its location. The amphitheatre is an open-air venue built right at the water's edge on the western end of the Maiori promenade: on one side, moored boats; on the other, the town lights climbing the valley. It is the same stage that hosts paid municipal summer shows, completely transformed on August 14th to host a dance party that lasts until dawn.
The date is no coincidence. In Maiori, the first half of August is marked by celebrations for Santa Maria a Mare, the town's patron saint: the unveiling of the painting, lyrical-symphonic programs along Corso Reginna, the August 15th procession with the famous run of the Madonna on the steps of the Collegiate Church, and fireworks over the sea. The Summer New Year's Eve fits perfectly into the night before Ferragosto, when the town is bustling and the desire to stay out until dawn is at its peak. Those who arrive early can visit the main square, where free band and folk music performances take place on the evening of the 14th, before heading down to the port.
The format is that of a major dance party: DJ sets alternating between summer hits, house, and commercial tracks, with special effects, lights, and themed decor that change annually, as seen in the 2025 Luna Park edition. Past editions have featured popular regional DJs, including Peppe Salerno, touted by organizers as one of the strongest names in the Campania scene. The line-up is typically announced on the organization's social media channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
Those seeking a quiet evening should note that the port is far from silent that night: it is better to look into other events in the rich Maiori summer calendar, which features over sixty events between June and August, most of which are free.
The 2026 edition is set for Friday, August 14th, starting at 11:00 PM at the Tourist Port Amphitheatre in Maiori. The event appears in the summer program released by the Municipality, which for 2026 lists more than sixty events from the center to the outlying areas: festivals like Maiori Jazz, Maiori Danza, and Maiori Festival, the patronal feast of Santa Maria a Mare from August 5th to 15th, and the paid concerts at the port.
On the same evening of August 14th, before heading down to the port, the town offers a lyrical-symphonic program along Corso Reginna at 9:00 PM and music in the square in the hamlet of Erchie: a way to experience the entire eve of Ferragosto between tradition and music.
The format remains the same as previous editions: DJ sets, special effects, themed decor, and the midnight countdown that gives the evening its name. The seaside amphitheatre has limited capacity and admission is paid, so online advance booking is the most prudent choice.
Tourist Port Amphitheatre of Maiori (SA), at the west end of the promenade, a few minutes' walk from Corso Reginna and the beach.
Paid admission, starting at 11:00 PM. In recent editions, tickets were sold via online ticketing platforms; advance purchase is recommended as the amphitheatre has limited capacity.
