About Summer Fair

The Foire d'été is the summer version of the renowned Fiera di Sant'Orso: a grand celebration of traditional craftsmanship that fills the historic center of Aosta with wood sculptures, soapstone, wrought iron, leather, and textiles. The fair is complemented by the Crafts Exhibition-Competition in Piazza Chanoux, the Atelier des Métiers featuring master artisans and businesses, the distributed art and design exhibition OrsOff, and, in 2026, the woodturning event Tornitori senza Confini. Organized by the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley.

The Summer of Aosta Valley Craftsmanship

The Foire d'été is the summer event for traditional craftsmanship in the Aosta Valley, the sister event to the older and more famous Fiera di Sant'Orso held in late January. In the heart of Aosta, along the pedestrian streets and the central Piazza Chanoux, Aosta Valley artisans display and sell their works: turned wood sculptures and objects, soapstone carvings, wrought iron, copper, leather, and traditional textiles. It's an opportunity to admire and take home, in the height of summer, the handcrafted items that tell the story of the region's savoir-faire.

Exhibition-Competition, Atelier des Métiers, and Grand Prix

The Foire d'été day is the culmination of a broader calendar dedicated to artistic crafts. The Crafts Exhibition-Competition of the Aosta Valley in Piazza Chanoux displays and awards the most significant works with the Grand Prix de l'Artisanat; the Atelier des Métiers brings together master artisans and businesses in the sector with live demonstrations and meetings. This series of events is promoted by the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley through the Department of Economic Development, highlighting craftsmanship as a key element of the territory's identity.

Art, Design, and Woodturning

In recent years, the summer fair has embraced new artistic languages: OrsOff, a distributed exhibition of art, design, and crafts that takes over public and private spaces in the city, and – as a new feature for 2026 – Tornitori senza Confini, an event dedicated to woodturning, exploring traditions, territories, and the evolution of the craft. Aosta, a city of the Arch of Augustus and the Collegiate Church of Sant'Orso, thus reaffirms its role as the capital of Alpine craftsmanship even during the summer months.

Summer Fair — edition 2026

In 2026, the Aosta Valley craftsmanship summer event in Aosta is concentrated from July 30 to August 2 with the Atelier des Métiers in Piazza Chanoux. The 57th Foire d'été takes place on August 1st in the historic center, from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Simultaneously, the 73rd Exhibition-Competition with the Grand Prix de l'Artisanat (July 18-29), the 3rd edition of OrsOff, and the new event, Tornitori senza Confini.

In 2026, the system of summer events for Aosta Valley craftsmanship revolves around the Atelier des Métiers, in Piazza Chanoux from July 30 to August 2.
