The summer fair of Aosta Valley craftsmanship in the heart of Aosta
The Foire d'été is the summer event for traditional craftsmanship in the Aosta Valley, the sister event to the older and more famous Fiera di Sant'Orso held in late January. In the heart of Aosta, along the pedestrian streets and the central Piazza Chanoux, Aosta Valley artisans display and sell their works: turned wood sculptures and objects, soapstone carvings, wrought iron, copper, leather, and traditional textiles. It's an opportunity to admire and take home, in the height of summer, the handcrafted items that tell the story of the region's savoir-faire.
The Foire d'été day is the culmination of a broader calendar dedicated to artistic crafts. The Crafts Exhibition-Competition of the Aosta Valley in Piazza Chanoux displays and awards the most significant works with the Grand Prix de l'Artisanat; the Atelier des Métiers brings together master artisans and businesses in the sector with live demonstrations and meetings. This series of events is promoted by the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley through the Department of Economic Development, highlighting craftsmanship as a key element of the territory's identity.
In recent years, the summer fair has embraced new artistic languages: OrsOff, a distributed exhibition of art, design, and crafts that takes over public and private spaces in the city, and – as a new feature for 2026 – Tornitori senza Confini, an event dedicated to woodturning, exploring traditions, territories, and the evolution of the craft. Aosta, a city of the Arch of Augustus and the Collegiate Church of Sant'Orso, thus reaffirms its role as the capital of Alpine craftsmanship even during the summer months.
In 2026, the system of summer events for Aosta Valley craftsmanship revolves around the Atelier des Métiers, in Piazza Chanoux from July 30 to August 2. The highlight is the 57th Foire d'été, scheduled for August 1st in the historic center of Aosta, from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, featuring Aosta Valley artisans exhibiting and selling their creations. The season opened with the 73rd Crafts Exhibition-Competition of the Aosta Valley and the Grand Prix de l'Artisanat 2026 in Piazza Chanoux (from July 18). Alongside the fair, the 3rd edition of OrsOff brings art, design, and crafts to various locations in the city, while Tornitori senza Confini, an event dedicated to woodturning, makes its debut. Artisan registrations took place between April 21 and May 8, 2026. Organized by the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley.
