Concerts between the Church of San Michele and the Tornalla Tower
Combin en Musique is a travelling summer music festival that each year enlivens the municipalities of upper Valpelline at the foot of the Grand Combin massif. Organized by the association Combin en Arts APS with the artistic direction of Federico Bagnasco and Christian Thoma, it bases its identity on the deep relationship between music and the alpine territory.
The municipality of Oyace, in the Aosta Valley, is one of the recurring stops of the festival. The concerts take place in the most characteristic locations of the village: the parish church of San Michele and the ancient Tornalla tower, where music dialogues with stone and the history of the village. This link between sound and architecture is one of the distinctive features of the festival.
The artistic offering ranges from ancient music to contemporary violin, from natural brass to experimentation. The ArCombin – Violin Trails section, supported by the Ministry of Culture and SIAE, promotes young violinists under 35, some of whom perform in Oyace. All concerts are free.
Attending a concert in Oyace means discovering a little-visited corner of Valpelline and the Aosta Valley, where the artistic quality of the festival meets the charm of an alpine village with intact heritage. The festival is supported by the Aosta Valley Region, the Ministry of Culture, and the participating municipalities, with Rai Radio3 Classica as a media partner.
The ninth edition of Combin en Musique confirms the festival's formula: free concerts of classical and experimental music spread across the municipalities at the foot of the massif, including Oyace, with its symbolic locations like the Church of San Michele and the Tornalla Tower. For 2026, the festival expands to also include Allein and Bionaz.
The detailed program, with specific dates, artists, and venues, will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding summer on the official website.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published on the official website combinenmusique.com in the weeks before the festival begins.
Based on previous editions, Oyace typically hosts concerts in the Church of San Michele and at the Tornalla Tower, both as part of the main festival and the ArCombin – Violin Trails section dedicated to young violinists.
All concerts are free admission. More information at combinenmusique.com.
Oyace is located in upper Valpelline, reachable by car from Aosta (about 25 km). The nearest train station is Aosta; from there, continue by car or by regional buses that go up the valley.
Concerts are free and open to the public. For concerts in the church or tower, it is advisable to arrive early due to the limited capacity of the venues.
