Every summer, the small village of Strudà, in the municipality of Vernole (province of Lecce), transforms into a lively meeting point thanks to the Potato Festival. In the heart of Salento, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast, this popular festival celebrates a humble and genuine product of the Puglian land: the potato, the star of a rural tradition honored here with pride.

The potato, queen of the Salento table

At the heart of the festival is, naturally, the potato, cooked according to the recipes of Salento's peasant cuisine. At the food stalls set up for the occasion, you can enjoy fried potatoes, baked potatoes, pettole, and other traditional specialties, accompanied by the authentic flavors of the Salento countryside. It is an opportunity to rediscover simple dishes rich in history, prepared just like in the old days and served in a festive atmosphere.

The 2026 edition

The 2026 edition of the Potato Festival is scheduled for July 15th and 16th in Strudà. The detailed program for the evenings, including musical performances and food stall offerings, is usually released by the organizers in the days leading up to the event. Admission is free and participation is open to everyone, in true village festival style.
