Food trucks, craft breweries, and street performers at the foot of Mount Terminio
The Street Artists and Street Food Festival is the summer highlight that turns the center of Volturara Irpina, in the Province of Avellino, into a long, open-air stage dedicated to taste and entertainment. The setting is Viale della Rimembranza, the village's tree-lined main artery, which is closed to traffic for the occasion and filled with food trucks, stalls, roving performers, and music stages.
The concept is simple and has been a success for years: blending Italian and international street food with the popular language of street performance, turning a stroll down the avenue into both a tasting experience and a show. There is no need for a ticket, as admission is free: you only pay for what you eat.
The heart of the event is the so-called culinary caravan: over thirty food trucks from all over Italy, accompanied by some of the best craft breweries on the national scene, with a selection of beers designed to pair with every dish. Recent editions have featured culinary delights such as:
Alongside the traveling vendors, there is space for typical Irpinian products, which in Volturara primarily means the Piana del Dragone Quarantino bean, chestnuts, and mountain dairy products: a choice that ties the festival to the local agricultural heritage rather than reducing it to a simple sandwich fair.
The entertainment is provided by traveling troupes and performers: jugglers, stilt walkers, fire-eaters, magicians, and illusionists move among the tables and along the avenue with short, recurring acts designed for a strolling audience. As evening falls, the vibe shifts to music, with live performances, dancers, special effects, and 90s-themed DJ sets that keep the festival alive until late at night. It is a formula highly appreciated by families, as the atmosphere remains relaxed and child-friendly in the early evening, while the more festive energy kicks in after dinner.
The Municipality of Volturara Irpina has just over three thousand inhabitants and sits at an altitude of about 620 meters, at the foot of Mount Terminio, in one of the greenest areas of inland Campania. The village overlooks the Piana del Dragone, a karst plateau that floods during the rainy season, creating a truly unique agricultural landscape that is now very popular with hikers and cyclists. This context explains why the event is not just gastronomic: it is also an opportunity to discover a mountain village that can be reached in just over an hour from Naples and twenty minutes from Avellino.
The Street Artists and Street Food Festival is part of the Volturara Summer calendar, a program that the municipal administration builds every year with the Pro Loco, the Saint Anthony of Padua festival committee, and local associations. The calendar opens in June with "Volturara Outdoor and Music Festival" and closes in autumn with the Chestnut Festival, passing through the Cheesemaker's Festival in July, the Saint Anthony celebrations, the popular "A Ccapo a nni Monte" event in early August, and the Quarantino Bean Festival in September.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Volturara Irpina together with the Pro Loco, with the support of local associations; tourism promotion also takes place through the Sistema Irpinia portal of the Province of Avellino, which publishes the complete calendar every year. Admission is free: costs depend solely on what you consume at the trucks and brewery stalls.
It is best to arrive early, before the avenue fills up, and park in the designated areas at the entrance to the village. Those who want to combine the festival with a day in the open air can climb Mount Terminio or walk the trails of the Piana del Dragone.
The date is indicated in the 2026 Volturara Summer program published by the Sistema Irpinia portal of the Province of Avellino: August 9, with "music, roving performances, and gastronomy" through the village streets. Compared to previous editions, which spanned two days in early August, the 2026 calendar concentrates the event into a single day, placing it one week after the popular "A Ccapo a nni Monte" event on August 1st and 2nd.
At the moment, there is no information regarding the opening hours of the trucks, the names of the breweries, or the list of street artists and DJs. In Volturara Irpina, these details are usually published on the Municipality and Pro Loco channels in the days immediately preceding the event, often via the official poster. This page will be updated as soon as the detailed program is available.

Viale della Rimembranza and the Piazza Roma area, in the center of Volturara Irpina (ZIP code 83050, Province of Avellino, Campania). During the event, the area is pedestrianized: parking is available in the spaces indicated at the entrance to the village.
Admission is free and open to all, with no tickets or pre-sales. You only pay for what you consume at the food trucks and craft brewery stalls; it is useful to have cash, although many vendors accept electronic payments.
The village is at an altitude of 620 meters: the temperature drops in the evening, so bring a sweater. With children, it is best to arrive in the early afternoon or early evening, when the street performers are most visible and the crowds are still manageable.
