The charity run of Alessandria: sport, music, and cooperation
StrAlessandria is much more than just a running race: it is a major popular festival that brings Parco Carrà to life every spring in Alessandria, the capital of the province of the same name in the heart of lower Piedmont. Established in the nineties, the event has successfully combined a passion for running with a strong spirit of solidarity, becoming one of the city's most beloved and well-attended events.
The StrAlessandria format is designed to involve everyone, from competitive athletes to families with children. The program revolves around several offerings:
Surrounding the race is a true festival village, with stands from non-profit associations, food trucks, live music, DJ sets, and sporting activities that animate Parco Carrà for the entire weekend.
The distinctive feature of StrAlessandria is its commitment to solidarity. Registration fees do not cover the event's costs but are entirely donated to support concrete projects: on one hand, international cooperation initiatives promoted by the Istituto Cooperazione Sviluppo, and on the other, projects dedicated to the Alessandria area, particularly for young people. Signing up for the race means taking part in a personal act of solidarity.
Over the years, StrAlessandria has become a collective ritual capable of mobilizing thousands of people, transforming the city's streets and parks into a path of sport and sharing. It is an event that perfectly captures the soul of Alessandria: a hardworking and welcoming plains city that knows how to team up for a good cause. For those visiting Piedmont in the spring, it is the ideal opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere of a local festival, far from the main tourist circuits.
The heart of the event is Parco Carrà in Alessandria, where the start, finish, and festival village are located.
By train: Alessandria station is a major railway hub, well-connected to Turin, Genoa, and Milan; from the station, Parco Carrà can be reached in a few minutes. By car: Alessandria is served by the A21 and A26 motorways.
The participation fee is usually 10 euros and includes the official event jersey. Proceeds support the edition's charity projects.
