The street festival of Predosa on Via Gramsci
The Festa nella Via is the late-summer event that transforms Via Gramsci in Predosa into a long, open-air celebration. Organized by the Pro Loco of Predosa, the event was born with a clear spirit: to bring life back to the town's streets and offer everyone, from children to the elderly, an evening gathering focused on conviviality. It is one of those village festivals that captures the soul of the lesser-known Piedmont, where community is still measured by the pleasure of sitting together around a shared table.
The heart of the festival is Via Gramsci, in the center of Predosa, just a short walk from Piazza Matteotti and the Town Hall. Predosa is a town of about 1,900 inhabitants in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, nestled between the hills of the lower Monferrato and the plains carved by the Orba stream. Its territory includes the hamlets of Retorto, Castelferro, and Mantovana, each with its own traditions and summer events.
The Festa nella Via is part of the rich summer calendar curated by the Pro Loco and local associations, which enliven Predosa and its hamlets with food festivals and popular celebrations throughout the season. It is an informal, free-entry event where the focus is entirely on social interaction: chatting, eating, listening to music, and experiencing the street as a large shared space. For those visiting the Ovadese and Novese lands, it is an authentic way to connect with the life of a Piedmontese village far from the major tourist circuits.
Predosa is known for its culinary tradition: the town's signature product is the agnolotti predosini, which holds the De.Co. (Municipal Designation of Origin) status, alongside its famous strawberry production, which inspires the historic Strawberry Festival every year. The Festa nella Via fits into this tapestry of celebrations that, from Carnival to summer food festivals, mark the life of the Predosa community and safeguard its identity.
The Festa nella Via returns to Predosa on Friday, September 4th, and Saturday, September 5th, 2026, starting at 7:30 PM. For two evenings, Via Gramsci comes alive with the traditional street festival curated by the Pro Loco of Predosa, designed as a moment for the community to meet in the town center, just steps away from Piazza Matteotti.
At the moment, the detailed program (food offerings, musical entertainment, and activities) has not yet been published: it will be released by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Predosa in the weeks preceding the event. The festival remains free to enter and is open to both residents and visitors.
