The traveling theater arrives in Oviglio

On the evening of June 25, 2026, the small town of Oviglio, in the Province of Alessandria, will host a stop of the Walking Tour by the Scavalcamontagne company. The event takes place in Piazzetta del Milite Ignoto at 9:00 PM with the show "Primo Appuntamento": an evening of open-air musical theater, with free admission, designed to bring live culture back to the heart of Piedmont's villages.

Who are the Scavalcamontagne?

Founded in 2020 from an idea by Teatro della Caduta and Torino Open Lab, the company transforms Italian trails into open-air stages. The artists travel literally on foot, backpacks on, from one town to another, accompanied by residents, tourists, and hikers. Theirs is a "walking theater" that weaves together opera, live music, acting, juggling, and circus arts. The project was created by soprano and actress Irene Geninatti Chiolero and actor and singer Danilo Ramon Giannini.

The show "Primo Appuntamento"

Among the 2026 season productions is "Primo Appuntamento", a new creation that tells with irony and lightness the anxieties, expectations, enthusiasm, and disappointments of a couple on a date, set to music. A brilliant show, suitable for the whole family, combining theater, singing, and comedy for an hour of live entertainment in the town square.

A popular and free format

Scavalcamontagne shows are always free to attend, using the "pass-the-hat" voluntary contribution model: at the end of the performance, the audience is invited to support the artists directly with a donation of their choice. In case of rain, the show is guaranteed to take place in an indoor space. It is a concrete way to bring high-quality theater even to the smallest centers, like Oviglio, where large festivals rarely reach.

A tour crossing Piedmont on foot

The Oviglio stop is part of a summer itinerary that, between June and August 2026, touches dozens of municipalities across four Piedmontese provinces along over 400 kilometers of trails. For the inhabitants of the Alessandria area and those visiting the Monferrato lands, it is an opportunity to experience an evening of culture in the open air, in an authentic village setting.
