The non-competitive charity fun run in Casale Monferrato
The StraCasale is a non-competitive fun run that has enlivened the historic center of Casale Monferratoโthe symbolic city of the Monferrato region in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmontโfor over forty years. More than just a race, it is a popular celebration of sport and solidarity: anyone can participate, from children to adults, from regular runners to families walking for the joy of being together. The heart of the event is Piazza Castello, where all routes begin and end.
The event offers two tracks that wind through the streets and squares of the historic center of Casale Monferrato:
As this is not a competitive race, the goal is not the stopwatch but participation: running or walking together in a festive atmosphere.
In recent years, StraCasale has focused on health, emphasizing prevention, well-being, and social responsibility. Alongside the run, the Health Village was created at the Mercato Pavia, where doctors and specialists offer free screenings and consultations in fields such as oncology, cardiology, nutrition, and diabetology. For the little ones, there is the Kid's Game, featuring minibasket, microtennis, and sports activities organized by local associations, along with entertainment, face painting, shows, street food, and live music.
StraCasale is organized by Personal Gym SSD with the patronage of the Municipality of Casale Monferrato and has a strong focus on solidarity: the funds raised are donated to Anffas and the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research in Candiolo, as well as other local organizations. It is this combination of sport, community, and charity that makes StraCasale one of the most cherished and well-attended events in the Casale calendar.
The 2026 edition of StraCasale marked an important milestone: for the first time, the race took place on a Sunday (May 17) in the morning, a choice that proved successful with an increase in participants from outside the city, including Milan, Turin, Genoa, and the Aosta Valley. The day's theme was "The Year of Health".
Approximately 2,000 people took part in the run and another 1,500 in the side activities, for a total of about 3,500 participants. The event, organized by Personal Gym SSD with the patronage of the Municipality of Casale Monferrato, consolidated its charitable commitment: over 53,500 euros raised in the last four editions for Anffas and the Piedmontese Foundation for Cancer Research.
Start and finish at Piazza Castello, in the historic center of Casale Monferrato (Province of Alessandria). The Health Village is set up at the Mercato Pavia.
By car: Casale Monferrato is accessible via the A26 motorway (Casale Sud or Casale Nord exits). By train: the Casale Monferrato station is connected to Turin, Alessandria, and Vercelli. On the day of the event, some streets in the center are closed to traffic for the participants.
Participation requires a symbolic registration fee (around 10 euros), which includes the official t-shirt and a race pack; proceeds are donated to charity. T-shirts can be purchased at local shops and on the day of the event.
