Two days dedicated to vintage motoring and military vehicles in the heart of the Vercelli rice fields
In the heart of the Vercelli rice fields, the small town of Stroppiana hosts one of Piedmont's most original events dedicated to vintage vehicles every year: Campo Base Stroppiana. The event takes place at the Fondazione Marazzato headquarters, along the Strada Provinciale 31, where one of Italy's most important collections of historic vehiclesโthe result of decades of passion from the Marazzato familyโis housed.
The common thread of the event is vintage motoring with a special focus on military vehicles. During the days open to the public, dozens of vehicles from the Marazzato Collection, which counts about 300 items, are on display: classic Italian trucks and vans, legendary haulers like the Lancia 3 Ro and the OM, as well as military vehicles from various eras. The most spectacular moment is the ride aboard an operational tank, a rare experience that draws enthusiasts from across the region.
Campo Base is not just a static exhibition: groups of re-enactors set up period encampments and scenes of military life in uniform, reconstructing the atmosphere of the past with original memorabilia and equipment. Alongside the re-enactments, there are conferences and presentations with historians and experts, as well as photography and modeling exhibitions, making the event an opportunity for cultural insight into the industrial and military history of the 20th century.
Thanks to free admission and a program rich in activities, Campo Base Stroppiana has established itself as an event suitable for everyone: mechanical enthusiasts, history buffs, but also families and children, fascinated by the large vehicles and live demonstrations. The 2025 edition attracted about 2,000 visitors over the weekend, confirming the growing success of the event organized by the Fondazione Marazzato in this corner of the Vercelli plains, in Piedmont.
The Fondazione Marazzato returns with the fourth edition of Campo Base Stroppiana, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026, at its headquarters along the Strada Provinciale 31 in Stroppiana, in the Province of Vercelli.
As in previous editions, the two days will be entirely dedicated to vintage motoring with a special focus on military vehicles: exhibition of vehicles from the Marazzato Collection, period encampments, uniformed re-enactments, and rides aboard historic vehicles. Conferences and educational moments with historians and industry experts are also expected.
The detailed program with times, presentations, and activities will be published by the Fondazione Marazzato closer to the event.
