Live music amidst the wheels of an old mill, part of the Biellese Museum Network
There is something magical about playing and listening to music inside an old watermill. This is the experience offered by Storie Biellesi at the Ex Mulino Susta, in the Soprana district of the municipality of Valdilana, in the province of Biella. The initiative is part of Sound Paths in the Biellese Museum Network, a series that brings music to the most evocative sites in the area: sanctuaries, ecomuseums, historic villas, and mills like this one.
The Ex Mulino Susta is one of the most fascinating sites in the Biellese Ecomuseum. Restored and promoted as a testament to the valley's material culture, it preserves the memory of traditional farming and artisanal labor. The festival day begins with a guided tour of the mill before the music takes center stage: a perfect way to rediscover local heritage before letting yourself be carried away by the notes.
Organized by the c.s. Storie di Piazza APS association, the Storie Biellesi series accompanies the seasonal opening of the Biellese Museum Network. Each event is designed as a complete experience, combining tours, storytelling, and live concerts that dialogue with their host venues. The 2026 edition was supported by the Fondazione CRBiella (via the CulturHub grant), the Fondazione CRT, and the Regione Piemonte.
It is the perfect occasion for those who love high-quality music away from large concert halls, immersed in the nature and heritage of the Biella region. The intimate atmosphere of the mill, the carefully curated program, and the voluntary contribution entry make this event a hidden gem not to be missed when visiting Valdilana and its valleys.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the Ex Mulino Susta in Valdilana inaugurated the Storie Biellesi season, coinciding with the opening of the Biellese Museum Network. The day began at 2:30 PM with a tour of the mill, culminating in the 4:30 PM concert.
On stage, guitarist and singer Alex Gariazzo was joined by Roberto Bongianino on accordion, accordina, mandolin, and backing vocals.
The duo presents a musical anthology of everything America has produced: folk, country, blues, bluegrass, gospel, and soul, with European-style pop-folk influences. A repertoire that crosses genres and geographies, intertwining the roots of overseas traditions with echoes from the Old Continent.
