Capolona's gastronomic festival dedicated to pork shank, featuring local cuisine and dance evenings
In the heart of Tuscany, where the Arno valley meets the rolling hills of the Casentino, the town of Capolona (province of Arezzo) hosts one of its most cherished events every June: the Stinco Festival. Reaching its 21st edition in 2026, it has become a staple in the local calendar, drawing visitors from across the province and beyond.
As the name suggests, the star of the table is the pork shank (stinco), slow-cooked until tender and flavorful, and served with traditional rustic sides. Alongside this signature dish, the Pro Loco kitchen offers a full menu featuring pasta dishes, grilled meats, and pizza, designed to satisfy every palate and age group. The festival restaurant opens every evening, offering a genuine and welcoming village atmosphere.
The Stinco Festival is about more than just great food. Every evening, the outdoor area comes alive with dance nights featuring the best ballroom orchestras, while the youth area offers DJ sets for those who prefer a more modern beat. To round off the festivities, there is a funfair, making the event an ideal destination for families with children.
Behind the festival is the volunteer work of the Pro Loco Il Ponte, a historic association founded in 1967 and re-established in 2006. Today, it boasts over fifty active members committed to promoting the cultural, gastronomic, and tourist value of the area. The event is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Capolona at the Circolo APS Il Ponte, located at via dei Tiratoi 2.
More than just a food event, the Stinco Festival is an opportunity to experience authentic Tuscan conviviality: shared tables, live music, the scent of grilled meat, and that sense of community that defines the village festivals of the Casentino. It is the perfect appointment to discover Capolona and the genuine flavors of the Arezzo province.
The 21st Stinco Festival of Capolona was spread over two weekends in June, opening on Thursday the 4th, Friday the 5th, Saturday the 6th, and Sunday the 7th, and continuing from Wednesday the 10th to Sunday the 14th of June 2026.
Every evening, the festival restaurant opened with a traditional menu centered on pork shank, accompanied by pasta dishes, grilled meats, and pizza. The musical program featured dance nights with the best ballroom orchestras and, in the youth area, DJ sets; for the little ones, a funfair was available. Admission and outdoor dancing were free.
Every evening: food stand with pork shank, pasta, grilled meats, and pizza, outdoor dancing, and a funfair. Details of the orchestras for each evening are communicated by the Pro Loco on their social media channels.
