The summer orecchiette festival in the heart of Latiano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the historic center of Latiano, a small town in the province of Brindisi, Puglia, Stacchioddi Summer brings one of the town's most beloved gastronomic traditions to life during the summer: the handmade orecchiette festival. The event, organized by Pro Loco Latiano APS, takes place along Via Santa Margherita, in front of the town's Museum Center, in a setting that weaves together flavors, music, and collective memory.
In the local dialect, stacchioddi are orecchiette, the fresh pasta that the expert hands of Latiano women "detach" one by one from the dough. Traditionally served with tomato sauce and meat rolls, they are the symbol of Sunday family meals and the culinary identity of Salento. Stacchioddi Summer was born as a summer version of the historic Sagra ti li Stacchioddi, which has been held every first Sunday of October in Piazza Umberto I since 1978 as part of the Fera di Latiano.
The evening brings Via Santa Margherita to life with food stalls and themed decorations, offering visitors the chance to enjoy orecchiette prepared according to ancient recipes alongside other local dishes. The choice of location, in front of the Civic Museum, is no coincidence: it enhances the historical and cultural heritage of Latiano, inviting residents and tourists to rediscover the charming corners of the village.
The food and wine trail is accompanied by a rich musical program featuring live performances and DJ sets, turning the evening into a moment of celebration and conviviality under the Apulian summer sky. The event is held under the patronage of UNPLI Puglia and the Municipality of Latiano.
Reaching its third edition in 2025, Stacchioddi Summer has established itself as one of the most popular summer evenings in the Latiano calendar, attracting visitors from neighboring towns as well. It is an authentic opportunity to savor the truest side of Puglia—the side of village festivals where tradition becomes a place for meeting, storytelling, and the pleasure of dining.
The 2026 edition of Stacchioddi Summer does not yet have an official date. While waiting for the announcement from Pro Loco Latiano, the appointment with the summer orecchiette festival is expected, as usual, in July in the historic center of Latiano. The detailed program will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
