The experimental dance festival celebrating the awakening of spring in Collegno
Spring Rolls – Spring Festival is the annual event that, in the heart of spring, brings the Lavanderia a Vapore in Collegno, in the Province of Turin, to life. Born from the expertise of COORPI, the Turin-based association dedicated to promoting contemporary dance and screendance for years, the festival celebrates "the subversive awakening of the senses and spring" through a program of ritual actions, performances, and hybrid, participatory artistic experiments.
The festival is headquartered at the Lavanderia a Vapore, a historic building of the former Certosa Reale that now serves as one of Piedmont's leading choreographic residency centers. However, Spring Rolls does not stay within four walls: shows and performances are scattered throughout the Lavanderia's spaces, the nearby Parco della Certosa, and the urban and natural landscape of Collegno, creating a journey that invites spectators to move and discover the city from a fresh perspective.
The Spring Rolls program brings Italian and international choreographers and performers to Collegno, with a special focus on contemporary body-based works and languages that blend dance, sound, visual arts, and participatory practices. Alongside evening shows, the festival offers open classes, workshops, and activities designed for families, as well as the work of the Dance Well Dancers, a project that introduces dance to people living with Parkinson's disease.
The timing in spring is no coincidence: the festival engages with World Dance Day, promoted by UNESCO, and fits into the rich cultural calendar of the Turin metropolitan area. For the public, it is an opportunity to discover some of the most innovative offerings in the European choreographic scene without leaving Collegno and Piedmont.
The third edition of Spring Rolls – Spring Festival animated Collegno from May 8 to 10, 2026, confirming the festival's vocation to unite contemporary dance, experimentation, and participation. Events took place between the spaces of the Lavanderia a Vapore and the Parco della Certosa, with a program rich in Italian and international artists and several national premieres. The festival reaffirmed its connection with World Dance Day, offering the Turin public an overview of the most current body-based artistic expressions.
Throughout the weekend, performances, participatory actions, and activities by the Dance Well Dancers also took place, in collaboration with numerous artists from the COORPI project.
The Lavanderia a Vapore is located at Corso Pastrengo 51 in Collegno (TO). By car, Collegno is easily accessible from the Turin ring road. By public transport, the Turin Metro (Line 1) reaches Collegno: the Fermi stop is the terminus, from which you can continue by local bus or on foot.
Activities take place in the late afternoon and evening, typically from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
