About Spring of Women

Primavera di Donne is the cultural review that every year, from March to June, shines a spotlight on the female universe in Albinea, in the province of Reggio Emilia. Promoted by the Municipality and the Department for Equal Opportunities, the event combines meetings, theatre and dance performances, concerts, art exhibitions, book presentations, and sports initiatives. A four-month journey that tells the story of the female condition, past and present, focusing on health, culture, memory, and well-being, involving associations, artists, and citizens in a widespread calendar, mostly with free admission.

A Review Dedicated to Women

Primavera di Donne is the review that the Municipality of Albinea, in the province of Reggio Emilia (Emilia-Romagna), dedicates to the female universe over four months, from March to June. Promoted by the Department for Equal Opportunities, the event offers a widespread calendar of meetings, performances, readings, concerts, and exhibitions that reflect on the condition of women, past and present, touching on themes ranging from health to culture, from memory to physical well-being.

A Multidisciplinary Program

The strength of the review lies in the variety of its offerings, designed for diverse audiences and almost always with free admission. Throughout the event, the following take place:

  • Meetings and conferences on health, prevention, and psycho-physical well-being;
  • Book presentations with female authors and editors;
  • Theatre and storytelling performances dedicated to female figures;
  • Concerts and musical moments, featuring choirs and solo voices;
  • Dance performances and shows;
  • Solo and group art exhibitions held in the civic hall;
  • Sports initiatives, such as the historic Women's Day road race and amateur tournaments.

The Venue and Locations

The heart of the review is the "A. Corradini" Civic Hall at Via Rodolfo Morandi 9, next to the Pablo Neruda municipal library. However, many events take place in other locations within the municipality and its hamlets (Borzano, Montericco), from the Albinetano club to sports facilities, including exhibitions that engage with venues in the Reggio Emilia area. Albinea, nestled at the foot of the Reggio Emilia Apennines in the Matildic Lands, thus uses the review as an opportunity for cultural animation for the entire community.

A Tradition That Renews Itself

Now in its latest edition, Primavera di Donne has established itself as one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Albinea spring. The review combines education, art, and social interaction, providing a platform for local associations, female artists from the region, and external guests, and reaffirms the Municipality of Albinea's commitment to equal opportunities and the valorization of women's contributions to social and cultural life.
