The Sinigaglia's intimate concert season: three concerts, three venues in Chivasso
Every year, at the end of the academic season, the Leone Sinigaglia Municipal Music Institute in Chivasso opens its doors to the city for its Spring Music festival. This intimate concert series marks the close of the musical year: a trio of events that takes students, teachers, choirs, and ensembles out of the classrooms and onto the stages and iconic landmarks of Chivasso, in the heart of the Turin plains. Three concerts, three different venues, and one common thread: sharing music with the city.
The Sinigaglia Institute has been a musical landmark for Chivasso and the Province of Turin since 1973. Managed by the Leone Sinigaglia APS Association, which has been committed to promoting musical culture in Piedmont for over twenty-five years, the institute welcomes students of all ages, from children to adults, offering classical, modern, and professional training paths. The institute is home to an orchestra, the Sinigaglia Polyphonic Choir, the Children's Choir, bands, chamber music ensembles, and vocal workshops—all of which are the stars of this festival.
The Spring Music program alternates between choral, collective, and celebratory moments. It begins with the Sinigaglia Concertone, a grand student celebration featuring both classical ensembles and modern bands; it continues with the Music Festival, an open-air afternoon in the institute's garden; and it concludes with a challenging choral concert dedicated to one of the 20th century's masterpieces, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Each evening takes place in a different part of the city—from the Teatro Carletti to the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli—turning Chivasso into a small musical itinerary.
All Spring Music events are free and open to the public, designed to introduce a wide audience to live music and to share the results of a full year of study with the community. The festival is a precious opportunity for families, music lovers, and the curious to experience the musical scene of Chivasso and Piedmont.
