The village festival that welcomes the beautiful season in the heart of the Canavese region

When the hills of the Canavese turn the vibrant green of the new season, San Martino Canavese, a small municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin, celebrates its Spring Festival. It is a village festival in the truest sense of the word: a popular event that brings together local residents and visitors from the surrounding areas for three days of conviviality, dedicated to local traditions and flavors.
San Martino Canavese has fewer than eight hundred inhabitants and sits at an altitude of about 400 meters, amidst agricultural landscapes, vineyards, and the parish church dedicated to Saint Martin the Bishop. It is located in the Lower Canavese, just a few kilometers from Ivrea and the neighboring villages of Perosa Canavese, Vialfrè, and Scarmagno. It is a land of rolling hills and glacial moraines, ideal for those seeking a lesser-known Piedmont, made of small villages and living traditions.
The Spring Festival follows the model of the many Piedmontese village festivals that enliven the municipalities of the Canavese during the milder months of the year. Typically, these events offer food and wine stalls with traditional dishes, musical performances, banquets, and meeting opportunities that involve the entire community, from families and the elderly to the youth. It is the type of event that best captures the identity of a small village: an occasion to be together, to showcase the work of local associations, and to welcome those arriving from outside.
The Spring Festival of San Martino Canavese is one of those events that adds value to the rich tapestry of Piedmontese celebrations: small festivals that, together, make up the extensive calendar of events in the Canavese and the Piedmont Region.
