The major spring market exhibition by the Pro Loco of Galliate
As the days grow longer and the Piedmont region awakens, the village of Galliate, located in the West Ticino area of the Novara province, celebrates the arrival of the new season with the Spring Festival – Galliate in Bloom. Organized with passion by the Pro Loco of Galliate, this event is a well-established fixture in the local calendar, attracting thousands of visitors every year from across the Novara area and the nearby Lombardy border.
The core of the event is a vast market exhibition that fills the squares and streets of the historic center. Along the stalls, you will find hobbyists, artisans, and local farmers, in a journey that combines creativity, traditional crafts, and farm-to-table products. There is no shortage of floral arrangements and plants that give the festival its name, «Galliate in Bloom», with flower and nursery exhibitors adding color to the town's streets.
The stands are distributed throughout the most picturesque areas of the center: Piazza San Giuseppe, Largo Rabellotti, Piazza Martiri della Libertà, and the surrounding streets. In case of bad weather, some activities move inside the Sforzesco Castle, the iconic monument of Galliate.
The festival is also, and above all, a delicious occasion. The refreshment area managed by Pro Loco volunteers offers paniscia, the flagship dish of Novara cuisine made with rice, beans, and salam d'la duja, served hot and also available for takeaway. Alongside the paniscia, you will find tripe, sausages with French fries, and the unmissable gramolini, the typical pastries that have become one of the event's most beloved symbols.
The Spring Festival is designed as a relaxing day to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, strolling among the stalls, stopping to taste the specialties, and discovering the corners of Galliate's historic center. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a convivial Piedmontese village feast, where local associations and the Pro Loco act as the true engine of the community.
The 2026 Spring Festival, organized by the Pro Loco of Galliate, brought the town center to life on Sunday, March 15, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Along Piazza San Giuseppe, Largo Rabellotti, and the surrounding streets, stalls of hobbyists, artisans, and local farmers were lined up, along with the flower exhibitors that give the event its name.
As per tradition, great emphasis was placed on the Pro Loco kitchen: paniscia, tripe, sausages, and the typical gramolini, also available for takeaway.
In case of bad weather, activities take place at the Sforzesco Castle. For lunch reservations: call +39 389 9061123.
