Polenta, the queen of Lomellina

In the plains of Lomellina, between the rice paddies and fields of the lower Pavia area, corn has always been an identity-defining food. In Albonese, a municipality in the province of Pavia, the Corn Festival makes it the absolute protagonist of a celebration that lasts an entire weekend and has surpassed forty editions.

Polenta in all its forms

The festival menu is a true declaration of love for polenta: served with donkey, wild boar, cod, mushrooms, gorgonzola, and salamella, but also lasagna and other regional specialties. The kitchen, under the large marquee in Via Mamara Negrone, opens on Friday and Saturday evenings and also for lunch on Sundays.

A village festival that lasts a weekend

In addition to food, the Corn Festival offers evenings of traditional ballroom dancing with orchestras, traditional games for children, a football tournament, and on Sundays, a solemn Mass celebrating wedding anniversaries. It is the festival that brings the entire community of Albonese together, organized by the Gruppo Feste Albonese with the patronage of the Municipality.
