Arconate's autumn celebration with traditional masks, chestnuts, and Saint Teresa's Fair
The Autumn Festival and Saint Teresa's Fair are the customary autumn events in Arconate, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Upper Milanese area. Organized by the Arconatese Folkloric Group, they represent one of the most authentic expressions of the town's identity and take place over two consecutive days, Sunday and Monday, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Teresa.
The Autumn Festival opens in the afternoon with the parade of the Brass Band through the town's streets, accompanying the traditional Arconate masks of King Soquaun and Queen Sibreta. The streets are lined with stalls selling used goods, crafts, antiques, and hobby items, while food stalls – managed by the Folkloric Group and the Alpini Group – offer "carsenza" (a traditional local sweet), chestnuts, salamelle, polenta, and local cuisine dishes.
The following day is dedicated to Saint Teresa's Fair: colourful stalls stretch throughout the day along the streets of the town centre – via Roma, piazza Libertà, contrada Sant'Eusebio, via Matteotti, and via Turati – in one of the most established fairs in the Arconate calendar. For visitors to the Upper Milanese area, it's an opportunity to discover a local festival that preserves Arconate's own masks and customs.
For 2026, the Autumn Festival and Saint Teresa's Fair renew the autumn appointment in Arconate, organized by the Arconatese Folkloric Group over two consecutive days, Sunday and Monday, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Teresa. The exact dates and detailed program will be announced by the Folkloric Group and the Municipality in the weeks preceding the festival.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, with precise timings, will be published by the Arconatese Folkloric Group and the Municipality. The traditional structure of the festival includes:
